This was such an insightful essay to read. I have a lot of friends who are trans and they would probably like reading this! I wonder if the idea of being "trapped" comes from the fact that trans youth with unsupportive parents feel unable to express themselves the way they want?

Thanks! I myself am not trans, but I have had trans friends since childhood and some would always ask me to use their "deadname" around their parents, which I always did, but I always felt like those kids were the happiest and freest with people who accepted who they are.
