the preloading thing is sooo one of those things where you don't know you don't know. if you don't already know it exists then you can't find out what it is. coding needs SO MUCH LESS of that thanks

I absolutely love this essay and am so very glad that you posted it. I'll admit I got a little emotional reading, "the very existence of the queer community is living proof that the collapse of traditional values and meanings does not have to result in the destruction of mankind."

when you brought up Tyler from Fight Club as an example of a completely negatively polarized nihilistic character, I then thought of Joy from Everything Everywhere All at Once as someone who was nearing that extreme. You're not wrong that media and culture currently propose nihilism as inherently negative - it's extremely popular to do so.

The ending of EEAAO imo proposes that "nothing matters" is not a negative sentiment. To remove yourself from the shackles of things having to "matter" can also mean the redefining of the self.

there's loads more I can say, but I'm just happy to see this up :) well done!
