you should be able to just delete the website update post that it makes (i think)

btw, if you aren't already, you can use a third party editor like Visual Studio to work on your site without having to update every time, and then you can just copy+paste any changes you want to push.

+1 for working in visualstudio. its makes editing and updating pages/assets so easy.
