What you can do is target businesses that you know who are desperately hiring like busy restaurants or sales agencies (high turnover). You may not be hired. Still, you'll have a good chance of an interview because desperation for extra arms exceeds want for competent employee.

If you really have no friends or acquaintances who could put a word in for you, then the best you can do is mass apply and trust in God.
