Hi there nuthead, I've written a little shell script to check my own webring for 404s, though it can be easily applied to your ring - thought you may find it interesting as automated site checking's on your to do list. This one's quite primitive, but it weeds out the plain old 404s at least. This is rmf of baccyflap.com, if you're interested shoot me an email and I'll send you the script.
It's cool that this comment is perfectly polite and reasonable and helpful, yet it begins with "Hi there nuthead..." I love neocities and I love the usernames people pick on here.
