Deskilling in computer science has become particularly frustrating to me. All of the stuff I liked to do has become trivial by automation. Stuff that's now considered "good to know" but not essential. Most of what's left is being a quick typist and thinking algorithmically.
I don't understand the deficiency of good sites you're experiencing. I see the same unfiltered creativity today as I did when I began participating in this project. What do you miss, thricegreat?
Also there are almost no good websites left on Neocities. A few rarely good websites are just using Neocities as a mirror. They might use the comment section, but they respond email. Or they have a guestbook.
