what made nanochan your choice compared to the current alternatives you know (i.e. 4chan)? I've a couple of places to rec, but never went to nanochan so I don't know the vibe there. even tried making my own imageboard but struggled with the [why?] (since moderation sounds troublesome and anon convos are often lacking – therefore why make one when you could just go to another url). imageboards often feel the same ig
if I had to rec one without knowing how nanochan was, I think https://bus-stop.net – it brings anonymous conclusion to its logical end: at most you're just looking for 24hour driveby conversation, and anything more indepth (beyond recommendations of music, lit, random thoughts) would probably be best found elsewhere. ephemeral, like irc
Nanochan was a darknet (Tor) imageboard and I could post without JS and even CSS. It had overboard so I didn't have to open every board. Overboard didn't contain replies (like catalog) so it looks compact. Also, nanochan was quite active unlike many other darknet forums.
After finding out, it seems picochan (http://picochanwvqfa2xsrfzlul4x4aqtog2eljll5qnj5iagpbhx2vmfqnid.onion) is quite active now because nanochan is down, so I will use it. Why I didn't use picochan was that it was inactive and images were duplicated without CSS. The CSS problem is not yet solved but I will use it anyway.
been avoiding imageboards in general - if nanochan is an imageboard. what would an ideal forum look like to you?
Well, I don't have an ideal forum. I just don't want to go many forums. The problem is that nanochan alone sufficed my needs, but it is now down.

honestly might make neochan.xyz the same way, except realtime posting + 24hour window. that sounds fun
