*blinks three times just to make sure* ahem. I don't really think neocities is supposed to replace social media, or go along with it by becoming just another feed. As long as you enjoy Creating Webpages, anything goes.
*blinks 4 times just to one-up the last person* I think it's normal for hobbies to fluctuate in frequency of indulgence like that, especially as you find new interests or when life is busy. also, I feel you re: skimming posts from time to time, I try not to do it, but neocities feed is social media-y enough that old habits die hard
