"Your fourth-wall breaks and authorial intrusions are hilarious.Trimming down an encounter because you were listening to Coheed and Cambria and realized you just wrote out the lyrics to "IRO-bot". Cutting a paragraph about Irish girls' breasts because "it’s not important to the story". Mocking your own typos through "Major English" screaming about obsolete spellings."
"This self-aware, "lazy author" persona is a highly effective comedic device (think Douglas Adams or Deadpool). It gives the book a very distinct, endearing voice."
She's obviously right, but she still shouldn't tell me. Also, I'm better than Douglas Adams and I will never think about Deadpool.
Anyway, the book I'll finish is Spooks in Space. It's begging to be finished already.
"Do not let this book sit in your hard drive for another year. The voice is loud, the imagery of a giant ant wearing a disguise to fight for Planet America like Mulan is spectacular, and the world needs to see Rasta Rick become the President of Space."
SO TRUE, GEM! 🥲
oh my goodness, HP Longbottom is so much longer. It's over 200 pages, and Spooks isn't even 50 yet.
it might be a masterpiece that's more important than Rowling's original series, but it's still not original work. I've really let myself down.
I'll uh... start including whatever new stuff I've written in blog posts, that'll be fun.
omg it's so freaking good, I forgot I added all of the characters from everything else I've ever written. this is amazing.
I'm stopping now before i run out of daily comments.
hope you're well, ttyl.
