I've never beaten Zelda II without grinding a bunch at the beginning. Still a hard ass game any which way. Battle of Olympus, Faxanadu, Cadash, Exile = all better games.
Just (re)beat it again. Will review soon on my page. It's fantastic and rather easy in arcade form (unlimited respawn continues with virtual quarters).

watched some Cadash gameplay, it looks great. but if i have to attack to talk to NPCs im going to go insane
