Got a lot done during my 2 hour break between classes so to highlight it all here: I made a page for my update log for past updates, compressed all images/gifs with large file sizes to less than 2 MB, Slowed down a few gifs (Such as the favicons), Added a few more links to the resource sections on the Other Links page, and removed the spinning food shrine (Might make this a blog post instead to highlight the links)

I think all that's left to do for this renovation is to move my guestbook onsite and that'll be it for now! The rest are long term projects to do when I have the time/energy (It's definitely taken a lot of time/energy to update my site and layout this past week but it's really been worth it, especially making it more accessible)

If I can get the guest list thing figured out today or tomorrow then I will have accomplished all my goals for the website before the 1st site anniversary!

Birthday tomorrowww

Very torn right now on what to do once I find an actual gallery code I want to use, on one hand I’d love for all of my past years to have a gallery however that would mean uploading over 500 images to my site which isn’t ideal. The more reasonable option would be to just maintain a current year gallery and use the drop box links as “archives”

I just hate having to store everything off site for my past art. Like yeah I have more love for my current art but I still think it’s worth showing my old art too somewhere

I think what I might do as a sort of compromise is for past years to pick my top piece from each month and put them in a gallery for that year (think of it like a “Best of each month from: insert year here”) with the drop box link to the full gallery for that year there too

Neocities doesn’t want to show my site update here but I tested the new java scriptless versions of the site and added them to the sitemap under the "Other" Section. Also added site goals to my about page

Might write a blog post about my favorite abandoned mall cause I collected a shit ton of pics/info related to it and want to have a place to publish that too since I don’t see anyone talking about it even tho it was abandoned for nearly a decade, twice

I can’t think of many other malls that were open, closed for a decade, reopened under a new name, and then closed 2 years later and stayed abandoned for another 10 years till it’s demolition

Added a few Java scriptless versions of gif heavy pages to the site! Going to test all of them out tomorrow to make sure the main pages redirect to these scriptless pages when Java script is disabled. Also added a last fm widget to the about page + links to songs I currently enjoy underneath

Before I pass out for the night thanks for 30,000 views!! :3

Removed the music player from the site and replaced it with a section for my webrings instead! Will add a section to my about page with songs I currently like (and maybe a last fm “currently listening to” widget if I can find one that’s accessible

Odd quirk I noticed with freeze frame on my phone, gifs that are hidden under a detail tag are infinitely stuck in a loading loop. This applies even to gifs of a small file and dimension size too (like stamps and buttons) so I’m not sure why that’s the case? Does anyone know why that might happen
cadeion 1 year ago

I have Java script enabled on my phone and freeze frame works on gifs that aren’t hidden under a details tag so it’s just a little confusing. Maybe it’s just my phone? I’m not sure 😭

Worse case fix is just to have only static images under the details tag and not freezeframed gifs

yeah the freezeframe script just doesn't play nice with the details element u for

my solution was to have the page redirect if the person doesn't have Javascript enabled to a version of the page with the images hidden

@pinkvampyr Ah alright, that’s unfortunate. I’ll try and see if I can implement a way to redirect to a version of the page with the gifs hidden if Java script is disabled!
