As I've not paid much attention to new authors for the past decade, when I find new ones that look interesting, I feel like I've been hibernating all that time.

So, I got given a shelf that looks like it's been made out of wood from a skip... Not sure if I'll use it. I'll see what it's like once I paint it, but I wish my partner was a bit more discerning when 'recycling' stuff...

Started reading the first of the Iron Druid Chronicles today. Read better, but not as bad as some Urban Fantasy I've read. I think that the main character is able to defeat enemies too easily.

Covid update: News sites in the UK complain that too many kids are off school because of Covid, but they still refuse to vaccinate most of them. You can't win. This government hasn't known what it's doing from the start and it just gets laughable when the Euro football tournament is allowed to go ahead, spreading the virus. Last year Crufts when ahead, but it was very early on in the year and no one knew how bad it

was going to be - this year, it's not even going ahead. Suspect that it the Olympics in Japan will spread the virus just as widely. Crazy, really, when there are many countries that still haven't started vaccinating/have the virus out of control/don't have access to the vaccine, or have access to resources to treat people. We've known of some people who have had it and been in hospital for months with it.
Need to find the hammer so that I can transfer the clock over to the wall where I want it to be, but I'm not sure where it is. Just a little stressed today.

Was going to order some paint from the catalogue company, but not when it's shades of grey (boring!) and £20 more than what I'd spend at a regular shop.... Nope, nope, nope! (Hate grey as a decorating colour. Don't see the appeal of it.) There is grey in the wallpaper, though, but we bought it years ago and I chose it because the other option had blue as the main background and there was a lot of blue and white -

pottery in my partner's parents' home which we both detested. I think if I'd known years later that I would dislike grey as a decorating colour, I would have gone with the blue. However, the room isn't all grey so it's not that bad.
Wanted the main part of it done, so I could move furniture back into it's original position but it won't be there because the job ain't done. So if there's any moaning tonight that we can't watch a dvd, it ain't /my/ fault!
