Have you read No Longer Human? I don't know if this is "dark" exactly, but my favorite book centers around a series of murders & is called Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead.

& yeah, I hated My Year of Rest & Relaxation, so much so that it's one of my least favorite books ever, & I think that's the same author as Lapvona & Eileen.

Have you heard of Magda Szabo? I read "The Door" from her which was fantastic. I will admit though that I'm not 100% on what dark fiction is.

@vashti I've heard so many mixed reviews about My year of Rest and Relaxation, I just thought Eileen was so boring I couldn't even bring myself to hate it lol. It feels like it was made for the same audience that likes Gone Girl a little too much

@iwillneverbehappy I've never heard of her before but I just added it to my holds! also don't worry about it I kind of just made that label up because I'm not really well versed with book genres lol.
