update on the ai situation - there's this text file that prevents bots from scraping your site's data. if the bot hidden in the source of the code editor happens to be a fork of any openai bots, this will stop it. place it in the root of your folder structure, and take a look at the additional bots you can block. https://github.com/DynTylluan/owly.fans/blob/main/robots.txt

Just for confirmation cuz I'm still kinda confused. The creator of the website made a weird blog post about AI saying some really disagreeable things. The code editor also has some use of AI that we don't know exactly what's it used for?

@the-game-hoard the blog post was about a year ago. the ai in the code editor was a leftover "april fools" joke but it's still in the source of the editor. a cohost user a while ago emailed kyle about the situation and how they don't want it to be a permanent feature. it's supposedly "turned off" but no one is certain. https://cohost.org/nicky/post/5665868-damn-i-should-be-sen

thank you for sharing all of this! I appreciate the link to the cohost post, bcuz I was really confused abt the whole situation too, bcuz it felt like everyone was suddenly leaving neocities without saying much other than "there's AI!"

@bloodgulch it is super sketch, but considering you have to dig deep to even find it + the little evidence out there that proves it's actually in use, i wouldn't worry a whole lot about it. there's also the question of does neocities even make enough funds to support a functional chatbot? until it's up in my face begging for me to use it, i'll be staying. i made a mirror to have multiple backups anyway.

in light of some ai bs neocities is pulling off, i did import this site onto nekoweb. the chances of me moving there entirely probably isn't going to happen anytime soon with me and my midterms.

@transferns supposedly it's in the code editor, but there's no settings (or real mention besides "enable code suggestions") to turn it off. i'm going this off of "rumor as it" and not gospel.
