Because you call yourself a proshipper, I want to warn you: the Fediverse can be its own kind of hell and can be much worse than X/Tumblr/BlueSky etc. in some regards. Even if you find a nice place to be yourself, finding other people is hard and the reliance on federated feeds kinda means you also have to watch stuff you don't like constantly.
I've talked before abt why I think (virutal) fandom spaces suck, and never mentioned the Fediverse... personally, I think the idea of federated social media in practice is terrible because they "federate with everything" by default. Having no algorithms means any random person on the Fediverse could end up looking at your stuff. So depending on what you want to share, it could be terrible.
For me it was terrible bc I wanted to look at digital "weeb" art, but most of it can be found on instances typically blocked by other instances bc they are Japanese and allow lolisho. And I don't want to see lolisho either: even if I registered on those instances, the filtering in my experience is horrible when you want to find new stuff because you're often forced to "look at everything".
regarding what visciousdelights has to say, yeah they're pretty spot on with masto instances. I used to be on mastodon a long time ago (first on .social and then on .art, those are pretty huge ones iirc) and the federated instances are such a mixed bag. In theory it should be easy to find an instance you like and stick with it but it can get a little rough because of the way they work.
and lets say you find an instance that you DO enjoy, sometimes the instances can get really isolated or singled out if moderators of other instances don't like your instance or even don't like someone in your instance. More than once there have been instances put on instance block lists because the moderators of different ones don't get along or don't like each other for petty reasons.
then again, I haven't used masto in like... 5 years or so? so I don't know if that sort of thing still happens or not. Maybe its not as common anymore.
it's 2 am and i realize now that my ramblings sound so dumb 😭 Anyways, I think masto can be nice to try out if you want to get away from twitter, but some of the way it works can make it hard to find the right "home" there.

If you want to start somewhere, I'd recommend blorbo.social (https://blorbo.social). Read their about, I think it's quite... healthy.
(blorbo.social is a Mastodon instance, but you might want to look for Misskey or something else)
