I'm too weak for shmups, but I did learn about euro shooters, I didn't know about that sub-genre!

@p7uen They're an intimidating genre for sure! My love of arcade games has made me a fan however, if a somewhat casual one. Sometimes practicing a tough arcade game for better high scores is weirdly comforting to me, in spite of the difficulty.

Additionally, I have added a couple of links to two previous posts that a mutual linked me on Discord, both relevant to subjects covered on this site. First off is a beta source port of Realmz ( https://github.com/Realmz-Castle/realmz ) and secondly is an article about gaming history across the world in different regions ( https://felipepepe.medium.com/the-gentrification-of-video-game-history-dfe11f1e08ae )

Great stuff, I remember playing this a bit back in the day. Were the soft locks just a way of making the game 'harder' and extending the play time

Thank you for your writing and for the fun collab this year. I can see now that I missed so many of your posts at the beginning of the year so I have some great lunch break reading to look forward to in 2026. Happy new year!

Top Tip: This Christmas, avoid the extortionately high RAM prices by buying RAM from 30 years ago!
May the God Egg bless you for playing these Dizzy games so that we don't have to.
@p7uen I have become numb to Egg, I can handle it now. I give Fantasy World Dizzy a Not Treasure Island Dizzy out of 10.
