i swear i left a comment about the smartphone thing but i must have hallucinated it. anyway, i recently got a google pixel and put grapheneOS on it, so far so good, would recommend. probably the least bloated least evil type of smartphone you can get nowadays

oh my god lol my bad for assuming! my next recommendation would be a flip phone from sunbeam wireless, but i don't think it'd be viable if you need it for transit unfortunately :(
