from my understanding, cookies are basically tiny bits of information stored on a users browser. for example, the theme changer. your page will send my browser a key value pair, in this case which theme I pick on your page, which I can chose to either accept or deny. if I chose to accept, any time I visit your page, my browser will automatically recognize the settings or themes I set related to your page.

there are many kinds of cookies, like session management, personalization, and the most common kind of cookies we come across, which is tracking. tracking cookies are the ones people have the most issue with because it's a way for companies to store seemingly useless information on you to later sell to other companies to then show you hyper personalized ads, amongst other things.

in your case, I would have nothing to worry about. the cookies you are using are just personalization. the only information you are collecting are things like which theme people prefer, that way they don't have to constantly change it to their preference each and every time they visit your page. you can learn more about it in the HTTP Cookies Wikipedia page, under the Uses section. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_

i havent finished disco elysium yet, but i agree it feels more like a storybook than a game. it feels so expansive and the worldbuilding is absolutely genius, its like once you get into it its hard to stop playing. im so happy you enjoyed it, i'd love to hear more of your thoughts on it soon when you have the energy to. i hope you feel better soon, and your f*mily.

oh yeah i was really surprised at how deep the worldbuilding went! like, you never leave this tiny ass piece of shit town but every other country in the world has relevant sociopolitics and history. it's overwhelming on purpose i think. ty for the well wishes too, jamie :)
