i've been using sunscreen reliably and responsibly for several years at this point and honestly i'm so tired and sick of it... it really is so much maintenance considering that if you don't reapply it at least every 3-5 hours its kinda pointless
carrying sunscreen bottles around in the bag and reapplying it in public restrooms is just.. so much hassle. restocking and putting it on during the busy mornings also becomes such a chore
so i'm really cheering for hats and loose fitting long sleeve clothing :) its so much easier to put on a hat and a cotton shirt with a long sleeve than to regularly restock on expensive sunscreen, constantly put it from one bag to another, spend a lot of time on applying it
a thing people don't often realize is that long sleeve clothing actually protects you better from the heat than short sleeve. because when there's no fabric, sun hits your skin directly and it feels hot. if you're wearing a light cotton/linen shirt, there's so much less heat on your skin
i specifically bought a very light and airy long sleeve cotton shirt for summer, for sun protection and for keeping cool. also a hat with really really big brim. have photos in both in my "camping at the black sea" blogpost :) have you seen how these arabic dudes dress in the desert and how their clothing covers literally everything? they really do know how to keep cool
