It's one of those things where, when it's set up and running, it'll be pretty easy to add something new, and you'll probably be happy that it exists... but... the CREATING it part and adding each piece into that system is... quite daunting, so I'd personally completely get it if you don't wanna bother.

I've had similar issues creating a "Calm" version of the site so it can be more inclusive of folks who don't find my aesthetics calming like I do... but that shit's hard. I'd say the simplest solution is having a 18+ check that you have to click to show anything in the entire gallery that is NSFW then at least it's the USER who decided to see it. Same thing with gore, right?

On my site I have blur filters that disappear when you hover over the art, with notes around saying that that's what'll happen. So maybe something like that could be a simpler solution so folks are deciding to uncover anything that might be upsetting.

the 18+ check sounds like a good solution! I used to have blur filters but something about it made me irrationally angry XD. finding a balance is hard! and creating a calm version of your site sounds like a TON of work, good luck o7

i really appreciate this conversation because there are certain whole sites i can't look at because they make me feel legit sick or somethin. and i ain't lying. but i always feel bad, y'know, it's not really their fault, or mine?? i actually don't think i'm entitled to everything being accessible, because nobody is, but i appreciate it when ppl think of it on their own

You're so welcome. I understand the fear, even if it's unfounded. I've made a few stories with truly AWFUL humans in them who have done truly heinous things and... yeah there's part of me that feels a little shame or fear, but that part of me is just worried I'll be ostracized and die in the woods alone. The reality of it is, some folks won't like what I make, and it wasn't made for them anyway. It was always for me.

If they hate you, They can LEAVE! If they have something to say, Then they'll say it! BE YOU! This is YOUR SITE! Not mines! YOUR ART IS GOOD, FREEING, AND UNIQUE! Uniqueness is UNCOMFORTABLE because we have never experienced it BEFORE. That is a hard hill to get over. But once you do you'll never look BACK. Your defiance knows this! What does your shame know?
