ADDED A NEW ARTICLE TO THE LIBRARY OF BABEL DETAILING THE MOSTLY-LOST HISTORY OF "ALL CAPS", THE MAN THAT CAME UP WITH IT, AND WHY IT IS SUCH A VALUABLE AND VENERABLE TOOL FOR TEXT-BASED COMMUNICATION

@rottingcorpse I really have no idea how much of your persona is meant to be ironic, but I do not hate you. I am not in #lolwut because I don't have enough mental energy or time to deal with being on IRC.

Added two more humourous observations. That is all.

I feel like we are aliens on this planet, like we have just found ourselves here and cope as best as we can.

As for getting up on the wrong side of the bed, I think you take this too litereally; I think it's more to do with a state of mind... having a negative perspective on things, or perhaps having a bad night's sleep/troubling dreams that sets us up for the day.

That's a nice way to look at it. The haphazard and illogical ways society that society is built up effectively makes everyone an alien to some degree or another, although certain groups such as autistic people definitely bear the brunt of it.

You need to watch more wildlife documentaries. If you sincerely think animals are any different than humans, you don't understand either. Humans. Are. Animals. We are no better, nor worse. We are simply different in our strengths. Our innovantions. I have seen anoles eat other anoles. I have seen cats eat other cats. Hunger does things to animals. Cats kill other cats for pleasure. Cats kill other cats over territory

Cows will leave behind another cow if it is too weak to keep up. Herd survival over individual survival. Cows will also go back and help the other cow if they can. Herd survival includes individuals and the whole. Humans simply have innovated this natural trait of mammals. To leave behind the wounded, and come back with reinforcements and aide.

Humans are objectively worse than animals in every way.

Added a plethora of new links to the Dock. More details on the Scratching Post/Portal as Neocities does not permit me enough characters to cover it all in one comment.

that little message at the bottom of the creepypasta - is it outdated? (since you do have the page up)

AH CRAP! How did I not notice that after all of this time?! Thank you very much for catching that, @HoleinMyHeart! I really need to start making notes for when I do things like that, as I constantly forget to update my promises after I follow up on them....

A number of people with sensory-processing issues complained that the Autism section was too colourful and difficult to read, so I added a Theme Selector to the section with three other colour schemes for people to choose from. The code for the Theme Selector is by Christopher Heng from www.sitewizard.com. Be sure to check out the very important Autism Acceptance/Pride article from Sunday if you have not yet done so!

Nice. I had used my browser's Reader view a couple of times to breeze through articles.

The theme selector is really appreciated- we've been using an extension to change themes on just about every site because light themes hurt, so having a theme picker makes it a lot easier to read.

Wrote possibly the most important thing I will ever put on here: a detailed treatise on the many grave problems that autistic people face, and why Autism Acceptance and Autistic Pride are so desperately needed. I gently beseech everyone to read it, even if autism isn't something you're interested in.

It is dreadful that people still don't take the time to understand, or even bother to make adjustments for autistic children.

koshka 2 years ago

Agreed, @Bright-Eyes. I guess it's just easier to force people's problems under the carpet than to actually show compassion, which is what the entire anti-autism industry (ABA, Autism Speaks, etc) run on.

holeinmyheart 2 years ago

read it all. "The conditions of the modern world are wholly unnatural" - as you said this makes your gripes relatable (to a less intense degree) to nonautistic people like me. WTF is a job interview probing for anyway???

85% of college-educated autistic people have too much common sense for job interviews :D

koshka 2 years ago

Thank you SO much, @HoleinMyHeart!! I truly appreciate the fact that you actually read the entire thing. I really didn't mean to make the article this long, but there truly was just a staggering amount of things to cover... Regarding job interviews, I honestly think the point is mostly to see if the interviewee is socially "normal" and a good fit for the "company culture" (translation: whether they'd be a fun

koshka 2 years ago

gossip partner in the workplace. I've seen cases where the person doing the interview wasn't even in the same department as the job that was being interviewed for, and had no idea what the technical requirements for the job were. I can't see what else the point might've been there.

Really great article and don’t think it was too long at all. Saying it again that I really hope the stuff you expressed an autism gets a wider audience at some point. There’s a lot I’d like to express about various points that you brought up but my brain is just to gelatinous from being at the blockades so for another time perhaps

You convinced me long ago that autism is not a mental illness, and that autistics should be accepted as they are. I only wish that mainstream attitudes and perceptions on the matter would also change, so that many of the injustices you described could have been averted.

koshka 2 years ago

@FragmentandReflect Thank you so much for reading the whole thing! I truly appreciate your open-mindedness and support. I have been trying my best to optimise things for SEO and such, and spreading the word the best I can without going on social media. Honestly, the amount of exposure that my writing is getting is already more than I ever dreamed I could achieve.

@lolwut Thank you very much for your constant support and readership! I am at least somewhat optimistic since things are already slowly changing due to autistic people's self-advocacy. The more actual understanding of autism spreads, the more the false mainstream narrative will crumble.

Added a swanky new subsection to the Library of Babel where I will be putting various cooking and baking recipes. This is an idea I have had for the longest time but only now finally decided to actually create. Also added an obligatory celebratory note to the Scratching Post/Portal formally celebrating the 100,000 viewer milestone.

"Regardless of how much people may want to believe otherwise, human history has never been a steady march towards progress, instead being more akin to the wayward zig-zagging of drug addiction recovery, littered with periods of regression and failure" is the truest thing you have ever said here.

I especially loathe the term "content creator"; YouTube was ruined precisely by the types of people who enthusiastically embraced it to describe themselves -- that is, the types who see the site as nothing more than a place to upload monetized clickbait videos and make money. The entry for "uneducated" is also excellent and sharply accurate.

koshka 2 years ago

Thank you, lolwut. Yes, YouTube and the Web are large were sacked by dirty peasants who have no respect or understanding of our culture and hijacked it as a way to make money from lazy, clickbaity filth. It's lamentable to see the once great YT become a third world market full of peddlers screaming at you about whatever bullcrap they're selling all at once.

From your May update, the whole "You're so quiet" thing rattles me... the suggestion once got back to me (from people that had obviously been talking about me) that I needed to "get out of my shell". This was years before I'd even considered 'being autistic'.

Content Creator (along with Influencer) are ones which irritate me, also. Most Content Creators I see who call themselves that, don't really create anything at all, they just browse the internet, see what 'trendy' things everyone else is doing and just copy that, or create ads disguised as articles and videos for companies that just want to take your money, and try to appear hip, unique and cool when they are -

bright-eyes 2 years ago

not. The term Woke is another one. Other than referring to someone who's just woken up from sleeping, I don't even know what that is supposed to mean, and your description of the modern left in regards to using the term fascist/nazi is spot on.

koshka 2 years ago

@bmh I loathe that phrase, and really need to mention it the next time I update this article. Why is it always extroverts telling introverts to get out of their shell, and never anyone telling extroverts to get back in their shell and leave other people alone?

koshka 2 years ago

@Bright-Eyes Very true! I loathe influencers for that very same reason. It's just people that make a career out of exploiting other people's work, selling bullcrap, and flooding the Web with garbage. The whole term "woke" is so nonsensical that I am truly convinced it was invented to serve as a sort-of "uniform" for people who can't think and just blindly parrot whatever they hear others saying.

Added reviews to seven more creepypastas to the Haunted House (more details on the Scratching Post/Portal). Also added a note to @Cyber-Witch, who vanished from Neocities over a week ago, solely because I have been unable to discover any contact information for her. If anyone who has her contact information could please pass it on, it would be greatly appreciated.
