I've been thinking and brainstorming for (looks at last update) 3 wks now and I still haven't an idea what to do w/ my site... I really dislike the little journal I have and other things, but to remove them would leave the entire middle category empty... I really want to have some sort of "about" and other fun personal things but I'm really unsure how to go abt it, I'm always self conscious when talking abt myself

at the moment, my next task is to manually upload outgoing/affiliate buttons to my own site files instead of hotlinking, if anyone would like their button changed from what is currently listed, or would like to exchange buttons plz let me know! as long as there's no intense flashing/rainbow fx m(__)m thank you for being patient w/ me

I know saying this may make me sound "stupid" in some way but, only recently did I come back to visual studio code once I learnt there was a "live preview" extension, since I always coded blog layouts on tumblr there was always a live preview to reference so, over time that's just how I became comfortable coding, meaning I've been coding everything w/ tumblr's live preview until now... orz (to be continued)

tldr; I'm asking if anyone else requires a "live preview" next to their code while working on their sites, rather than refreshing a webpage? I'm interested in "what does everyone else do" bcuz only *now* am I looking into alternative ways to code after telling myself "tumblr live preview won't last forever"

i use brackets and i can't lie i literally just found out it had a live preview section this entire time. i've been refreshing my pages each time i've made a single edit. you are a lifesaver

back then when i was starting out i used to write directly on the neocities ide, pressing update and praying it hasnt borken anything. nowadays i use vsc with a an extension that runs a local webserver (five server, derivative of live server) which i can use to preview live on the computer and other devices on the lan. every time i save the file it automatically refreshes all browsers connected to it, very convinient

I love VSCode and that same extension. When I started it was an editor called brackets that had a live preview function so yeah it helps a lot.

I run my site locally on my computer and I use an extension called "Live Server". Instead of Live Preview that has the page only in the VSC window, I got it also in my browser. But way back then when I first started, I used the editor built into Neocities..... and that was a pain to double check every time you changed something

Live replay? THAT'S A THING?!?!? omg I was working with Neocities' editor on 2 tabs and my site on another, switching between them. Well at least now I have a reason to try out vsc

@dagio-lol yes! bcuz of this I was using tumblr's live editor for custom pages for the longest time, but vsc has a a few plug-ins for live preview! currently I use live preview by microsoft, plz do try it!

I assure you, there has been a substantial update, the site preview just has yet to refresh! I'm quite excited for when it does :)

@faintlymacabre haha, sometimes I feel like coding is hoping for the best, and if it doesn't work out, you slowly tweak it until it *does* work, and then never touch it again so to not break it

(whistful sigh) both feelings of wanting to entirely recode my main page bcuz trying new things might inspire me, but also disliking the idea of change and not feeling enough creative drive rn (art block? coder's block?)

I've been wanting to just add more random images of things I like, whether they be games or characters but I'm also worried abt my site looking "aimless"... not that it should matter bcuz it's my website! but I really do worry abt it a lot... we'll see, I've just been slowly cleaning up code again, working on side projects, and drawing.. so hopefully I feel inspired again soon! <3
Don't worry about it! Your site is your site. And you can totally put random images of things you like as a placeholder, or for as long as you want. It's all good!
