how do i write a character that is repulsed by piercings & gauged piercings in particular. i grew up with piercings being normal since my dad has several and i never had someone outright tell me 'ur piercings are gross' so ideekkk.....

i'm going through and editing the nick x smoker fic; does it make sense to describe a character's appearance if the reader already knows what they look like? The fic takes place early in the game where it's Nick's first time seeing the Smoker and he's obviously grossed out by it's appearance, but i dont know if it just comes across as spoon-feeding the reader.

it still makes sense because it's in nick's pov, therefore you would need to describe his reaction. "the smoker looked blahblahblahblah and it left a sour taste in nicks mouth" type shit. if you only just said that the character was the smoker, without elaborating on the appearance or "aura", nick's reaction would not feel as strong (´・ω・｀)

perhaps, you dont need to describe every detail and thats okay. but emphasize what aspects of the smoker's appearance that nick is grossed out from

@yunkosjeskt that's kind of how i wrote it in the fic anyway, thank you! i tried to focus on the big tumor & extra tongues because i think that's what your eyes would be drawn to naturally

you can always keep it simple, by showing them staring at someone's piercings but their lips or eyes are slightly twitching or the corner of their mouth is cranking up in a slight snarl. if you want it to be obvious, you can have them asking "why did you even get that" or like "did you not consider its permanent. what if you regret it?" type shit. they might preach about unreasonable things regarding the piercing
most people wont outwardly say they hate the piercing. unless..theyre that type of character... have you heard of kyoto speak? most would react with fake "care" when in reality theyre hinting that the person should've regretted said piercing
