Call for aid because r/linuxmint didn't help / drowned me out and it seems like the kind of thing Neocities folks would know -- what CSS attributes does cinnamon.css support? Most importantly, does it support box shadows and modern gradient syntax? Web searching turned up useless desktop environment debates and a guide from 2022 which didn't have the same classes as my install.

Joined Dopcom Creechers since I noticed their registration is open until October 1st. https://dopcom.net/creechers/p/user/enforcer
feels like half of Neocities has a page on their site like this, but I figured that it would be better to put all the linux / dual boot setup stuff on its own page rather than lumping it into the thoughts archive, so here you go. will set up dual boot of some sort tomorrow-ish; may end up tri-booting to Windows 10 and 7 if Reddit can help but if they can't, I just do 10 because I need CSP before October 1st

Anybody got a good WebDAV client suggestion for Neocities updating on Linux Mint? Theoretically I can do WebDAV in the file system natively, but it's extremely slow. I'd like something equivalent to WinSCP, which is what I was using.

Linux Mint is successfully installed on Frivolity Computer. However, I am going to be dual booting because Clip Studio Paint doesn't run on Linux. I could have sworn it did, but I guess I misremembered. Will be dual booting Windows 10 for that + Zune and Flash player if I can't get Windows 7 running (it installed, but is refusing to start, and all provided options didn't work. Posted on r/Windows7 sub.)

gonna finally take the leap to install Linux on my main non-work computer before windows 10 end of support on October 14th, and wondering if I would be better off with Ubuntu vs. Mint. When I tried mint on my old desktop this summer, I found a lot of apps didn't have separate installers vs. the mint app store, and that the app store was really slow, had outdated versions, and was broadly unreliable.

More programs seem to have direct installers as opposed to either remote command prompt (which didn't work for me) or the app store for Ubuntu, so I'm thinking it may work better for coming from being a relatively powerful Windows user who detests the MS store. thoughts from Linux folks?

I am inclined to try Mint first since I already have a boot stick for it, and it looks like everything I need has installers vs. the software center (which I found to be slow and unreliable), but we'll see I guess.

I think mint is easier, but yeah outdated versions is common. Mint incorporates flatpaks which are usually up to date (maybe a few days to a week behind at times), otherwise I direct download .deb files or Appimages for apps that have them, if needing the latest version. I install .debs with 'Gdebi' (will automatically replace an already installed version) and Appimages should just be executable in mint.
