It's almost 10 years old, but I think "Kono Oozora ni, Tsubasa wo Hirogete" was a really good visual novel. To be honest, it was structurally (plot, characters, &c.) nothing special, but glider (plane without an engine) as the theme was itself symbolic, romantic and technologically very interesting. Also the beauty of the morning glory cloud and the takeoff by human force at that scene were quite sacred.
