Mint is supposed to be the beginner distro and it is. though i been having some issues but i think in my case its hardware, not the distro itself. you can try Mint on a Live USB before installing to see if it works on your machine. it won't mess with your PC
i recommend Mint if you are interested. it comes in different flavors like a Debian edition or MATE or whatever else to suit your needs. i use Cinnamon it's the main version.

thanks, the live usb is a good idea, I'm worried about hardware compatibility
@pirahxcx i booted maybe 3-4 times into a live session before i switched,to make sure it all worked. it cant catch 100% everything but it does help
