just realised how recent the 'pinch-to-zoom' gesture is. was watching minority report (which is from 2002 i think), and their futuristic sci-fi interfaces don't use it. this is real weird to think about

if you think about it, 'ambidexterous' literally means 'two right hands'. Interesting to compare with the phrase 'two left feet'...

It is...and it isn't. I always thought it was this guy in the 90s Dean Rubine, but there are patents going before that.
But you can certainly argue the modern application is post-Minority Report!
