i think that most of the characters follow some kind of moral paradigm. for jerry it's definitely utilitarianism. for caspian, certainly hedonism. richard is entirely averse to paradigms, but I think that in and of itself could be considered a paradigm.
also, while richard and caspian are nebulously the same age, jerry is probably older than both of them. though it hasn't been shown, jerry is the only one responsible enough to have a stable job. richard was previously a neet. caspian will never need an income source to pursue his passions because he is simply better
