Your blog post It's Not Nostalgia is well worded and concise. However I think there is a bit of nostalgia on top of everything else you mentioned. Another thing about losing plastic see through devices was the lack of consumer choice in aesthetics. Most phones and laptops are only black, grey, or white and the same goes for phones now.
