just in ref to your comment - if you want to try 3.5, I also recommend pathfinder 1e, as it is very similar to 3.5 dnd but...with some improvements? they're both more complex systems than 5e though as a heads up.

yeah twas a reason I started with 5e. Hope I can find a bunch IRL or want to, or I might start one up after my current campaign
