I was raised protestant. Like, we're talking Founding Stock Ameri-ANGLOMAXXED protestant. So when I eventually converted to Orthodoxy, veneration of the Theotokos took some getting used to and finding the right language to better explain it to myself. It all makes a whole lot more sense once you understand how the Saints are alive with God, and you're basically just asking them to pray for you.
