I THINK IT'S JUST WHAT MOST PEOPLE ARE USED TO, IN ALL HONESTY. AND IT'S CONVENIENT. I USED DISCORD FOR GIF OF THE WEEK AND SONG OF THE MONTH/ALBUM OF THE MONTH JUST FOR CONVENIENCE PURELY
ALSO ITS FUNNY THAT THE UPDATES HITTING SO MANY PEOPLE WHEN WE HAD WARNING IT WAS HAPPENING BACK IN DECEMBER T_T

In the old days, there wasn't enough space (was only 10mb) and bandwidth.. so they wanted to save them, I myself didn't bother uploading them to neocities.
@moheb-rofail that makes more sense too, i didnt start using neocities actively until 2022 even tho ive been around on here since 2014. back then my dad uploaded all my files to neocities for me but there wasnt a lot ever there so XD -ame
i use catbox.moe to host images and files, like music, but sometimes i do upload them to neocities when i bother to do so lolol
