nope, a lot of ppl i know who make ocs don’t do drawing and either rely on picrew to design something visual or use other references (pinterest boards, or using existing media characters as bouncing points—one of my OCs was inspired off accelerator from a certain magical index)
You can always write an OC like writers do, like making a list of their personal attributes. As zhongvie said making a mood board for colour schemes, etc, can be helpful to visualise them too.

@pixelglade and i'm a writer too actually. i used to write tons of fanfics but never made an oc. just thought of it now and it might be fun idk
