!! coding question !! hey everyone! obviously, as i've described on my site, i'm very new to html (2 months since i created my site now!). i'm not even joking, this whole time i've been editing my code directly in the neocities code editor (i know, so uncomfortable LMAO). (too long look @ replies)
i think i'm finally ready to start using some kind of coding software, but when i looked up visual code studio (the only one i've really heard of), their website was full of promotion for "ai features" and microsoft copilot integration.
i'm someone who is vehemently against generative ai for environmental and ethical reasons, but also i don't want to use it for coding because the whole point of this is me learning to code- i don't want an ai filling things out for me, i want to learn it myself.
so does anyone have any recommendations for other coding/html software? and/or if there's not much else, how heavily integrated is visual code studio's ai? thank youuu!! <3
I used to edit my code directly on Neocities as well. Oopsie! :') Right now I use codepen.io since it has a live preview. I'm a noob so I'm not sure if there's some reason that's a no-no. But it works for me!

I use the Pheonix Code Editor (the successor to Brackets)
