One of the historical event that terrifies me was the dumping of tons of radioactive materials directly to Lake Karachay in 1950's, about 60km away from Chelyabinsk. It's worse than Chernobyl, but since it's too far away from Europe, no one noticed and no one made a HBO series about it. I mean, the whole carelessness of handling nuclear stuff during that era is shocking in today's perspecitve.
Hey Lankarta just saw your reply. I am nearly always interested in historical events so I will definitely have to check it out - thanks for the suggestion!
