The Aegypt series is very interesting; I'll be curious to read your thoughts. The final book surprised me, as it does almost feel like an epilogue, and yet also something completely different.
OMG I've been meaning to send you a comment since seeing Aegypt mentioned on your site!!! And yes agreed, Endless Things... disappointed me a little, after all the chaos of the third book. I'm really keen to reread it and see if it still feels that way, and why. (Can't help thinking Crowley is deliberately going for that effect.)
When I consider that there was a 6-7 year gap between each book, it makes me wonder if he would set the series aside for a while each time. Endless Things particularly feels like a novel where he might have had certain plans, but when it came time to sit down and write it, he was in a completely different state of mind. This is pure speculation but that's just how the series feels to me.
