They made us role play saying no to drugs, and watch videos, but what I remember most is a lesson on what every drug did and how it could kill you. I was in 5th grade and became convinced from the name that crystal meth had to be the sparkliest drug from the moment the cop wrote it on the board. There was a guy in a lion suit, too.
Note: I am in my late 30s, so I remember seeing Winners Don't Use Drugs screens on arcade machines, too, and a lot of PSAs during cartoons. By the time I was substitute teaching, in the early 00s, the focus on this stuff was WAY lighter.

I don't remember them talking much about drugs after that, I guess they decided that at 13-14 you are ready to start doing it... I mean, if you wanted to be cool.
