Are you sure you want to do this?
I'm not sure why cohost never clicked with me! I didn't know anyone else who used it, and when I heard "cohost" I wasn't picturing some kind of blogging or social platform, I was imagining... a hosting service. Still, it's always sad to see an ambitious and well-aligned project like this fail.
I'm sure you've already had an earful of this, but Pillowfort is my alternative social media of choice and I have nothing but good things to say about it. Like how you describe Cohost, it doesn't have constantly moving activity like Twitter, but it's also stuctured around comments as the main metric and people talk to each other/reply more there.
It's had many "we've almost run out of money" scares but the community is aware of it now. Most months, it fell short of its monthly running costs. This entire year so far, it's hit 100%~110% funding every month because its users are more mobilized now.
@sakana I think what scared me off from Pillowfort was a policy that allowed lollicon to be accepted or something. The legalese confused me tho. Has that changed at all?
They didn't know how to rule on NSFW content for a very long time and have tweaked the ToS multiple times. Currently it more explicitly prohibits loli/shotacon, reading: "sexually explicit artwork that features fictional characters who appear pre-pubescent" (section 11 of prohibited content).
That's good to hear. I will consider it!
