I just read your most recent note and it's very relatable. I felt so weird about having a website too. Putting an honest piece of yourself in public like that can't be easy, but it sure is satisfying seeing a concrete representation of your inner world. One nice side effect is that when someone likes your website, you'll know for sure that they like the real you. Isn't that great? :)

Thank you for your comment. It would be great, but I don't quite know how to properly and honestly represent myself. I feel like a phony sometimes. It seems impossible to create a concrete representation of my inner world when it's anything but concrete to me. That's not to say I won't try; I think that's why I made this site in the first place.

The way I deal with this kind of anxiety is I make my website about something that I like and not about myself. But in order to get to that point I did make lots of overly personal sites with overly personal posts. I figured out over time what I was comfortable with sharing and what I wasn't. There is a light at the end of the tunnel where you figure out what you're okay with sharing and what you're not.

I used to feel very weird about this for a long time, and it's the reason I got rid of my previous two websites. How I've handled it with this one is by making my website content and articles less focused on me as an individual and more about how I understand and relate to other things I care about and feel are important to share with others, like othala said. I find it helps a lot.

I've found that I don't like making personal blog type posts or having overly extensive 'about' pages, for example. My 'stream' page is supposed to be a kind of middle ground: a way of sharing little things I find value in without making myself feel completely exposed, if that makes sense. It's worth experimenting to find out what works for you and what you value and are comfortable with. Baby steps. :^)
