You're right, thanks! I tend to think in circles so it's nice to hear from others. Also, happy birthday! ^_^

it is such a shame that most English accents got rid of the glorious trilled/rolled 'r' sound we should all be speaking Scots /s

Become rural Irish, and thus unintelligible to 99% of the rest of the world. :D

really liking your website so far! i do have a soft spot for anything text-based though :) > I seem to be hell-bent on keeping everything ambiguous through my writing it can be a blessing and a curse, it depends on how honest you want to be i guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think there is more honesty in embracing ambiguity than in claiming certainty. Lovely site btw!

Kobo Clara represent! I've had one for about four or five years now, I think, and it's still running great. What kind of literary genres are you interested in? I'd love to send over some recommendations, but don't want to be too off the mark.

@vihmu Thank you so much, vihmu! I would like to be as honest as possible, though that's easier said than done.

@alpx Thank you for your comment! I think there's definitely some truth to that, and it's very nicely put. However, I suppose that it depends on whether the ambiguity is inherent to what's being said, or whether it's borne from an unwillingness to commit to it. For me it's the latter, no doubt a byproduct of my inexperience with having a site like this. Luckily, practice makes perfect!

@literaturegirl I'm still discovering what's out there, so there's not much of a mark to miss. Though if I had to narrow it down, I'd say Gothic fiction is what speaks to me the most. In any case, feel free to recommend any books that you personally enjoyed, and I'll add them to my list!

For gothic fiction all I can personally recommend is Frankenstein and probably Wuthering Heights, which you have likely read already. If you're happy to be a little adventurous, I'd see if The Screwtape Letters by Lewis interests you at all.

I actually haven't read either of those yet, though I've definitely been meaning to. As for The Screwtape Letters, it's been on my radar for some time now, mainly because of you and Rainight, whose review of the book I really enjoyed. I also know that you really like C.S. Lewis, so I've been meaning to check out his work. Thank you for the recommendations!

Yes; Lewis is the reason I became a Christian, and he's from the same (very small) place as me. His writing is very dear to me. 'A Grief Observed' is his most profound work, I think, but it's very heavy reading. If you don't mind reading about the subject of grief, I would absolutely recommend it. It's also very short. I love his writing as I feel it's never unnecessarily dense but also never dumbed down.
Thank you for your comment. It would be great, but I don't quite know how to properly and honestly represent myself. I feel like a phony sometimes. It seems impossible to create a concrete representation of my inner world when it's anything but concrete to me. That's not to say I won't try; I think that's why I made this site in the first place.
Looking forward to see how the attempt goes :D
The way I deal with this kind of anxiety is I make my website about something that I like and not about myself. But in order to get to that point I did make lots of overly personal sites with overly personal posts. I figured out over time what I was comfortable with sharing and what I wasn't. There is a light at the end of the tunnel where you figure out what you're okay with sharing and what you're not.
I used to feel very weird about this for a long time, and it's the reason I got rid of my previous two websites. How I've handled it with this one is by making my website content and articles less focused on me as an individual and more about how I understand and relate to other things I care about and feel are important to share with others, like othala said. I find it helps a lot.
I've found that I don't like making personal blog type posts or having overly extensive 'about' pages, for example. My 'stream' page is supposed to be a kind of middle ground: a way of sharing little things I find value in without making myself feel completely exposed, if that makes sense. It's worth experimenting to find out what works for you and what you value and are comfortable with. Baby steps. :^)
