Found out a while ago I was using the CPU to render, so now I gotta learn some low-level graphics pipeline stuff for GPU rendering.
For anyone wondering: I have speed, wallhack, multishot, bounce, triple, and homing powerups, with the random and empty levels.
I don't know if I'll update my game again. I'm just sick of JavaScript (and, I'll admit, my code). I was thinking about rebuilding the whole thing from the ground-up, like a normal person, because now I know how to make a game. However, I've always wanted more low-level access for optimizations. That's why, I'm announcing today, Tanks is getting a remake (or sequel, I'll figure it out later) in C++!
More news to come in like a year when I figure out Qt. Yes, it would have been so much easier to just make Tanks like a proper game, with real planning and such, but I didn't do that because I had never made a game of that scope. And I don't feel like using JavaScript again (or a pre-made physics/game engine), so it's gonna be a while.
My inspiration has run dry, so I don't know when I'll put up another sketch or project.
That's fine. JScript can be a headache. If you do decide to do something, you can always comeback. :)
It's currently not much of a "game," but here's the GitHub: https://github.com/tanksdude/tanks-game
