I'm assuming that hair is the sentient being and it's just latching on parasitically to a host.

I looked it up and there IS one species of catfish that is parasitic, so there's a chance!

I forgot to mention this last week, but no comic this week! Going on a short trip this weekend. Should be the last break this year, I hope!
