what's the etiquette for putting other people's buttons on your site? I have a couple I want to add to my site and even made my own (not up on the site yet, it's gonna be in the big overhaul I'm working on rn), and I know they have to link back to their site, but like. do we also have to be following each other?? do I have to ask for permission??? I don't wanna put them up without knowing first it makes me anxious

sorry if this is like an obvious thing I'm still new to this and not super familiar with the etiquette regarding stuff like this. Also I'm a terribly anxious person in general

I was unsure about this too, which is why I made a "neighbors" section for my Neocities mutuals and a "(neo)city" for general personal and indie sites I want to link to.

@cheruehai I might end up doing something like that, but keep it to just mutuals for now. I don't want to feel like I'm overstepping with anyone haha

usually you can just add whatever buttons to your site! you can ask permission if you’d like but it’s like a general thing that if you like a site and want other ppl to see it, you can just add their button and link back 2 their site
