I feel similarly on a lot of these points. I've owned MC since 2010 and have gone several years without playing the game at all lol. The only thing that made it consistently fun for me was a friends realm/server, very 'unoptimized' gameplay mainly focusing on building out believable towns/the world at large :)

good read. I feel ya on a lot of those little annoyances, especially themeing and GNOMEification

Yeah, as an avid Linux user I relate to this post. Although I love Linux it's sometimes too obscure... My window manager stopped automatically starting for no reason and although I fixed it partially it's still broken. Although Linux deserves to be mainstream in my opinion it still has a lot to do and it has the classic struggles of a software that began to be popular

really good read :) sometimes I've been motivated to play games new to me in order to blog about them, coz that overhwleming game library rut can be strong, lol. Hope work eases up and you can get back to drawing!

Glad u got LTSC working! the talk of bad windows versions in 1st paragraph reminds me of Windows RT, if you ever used that? android-ified Windows from 1st gen ARM surfaces. unusable shit that they canned immediately XD

It's like Windows 8 but ONLY UWPs, no win32 stuff at all. There's a reason those surface RTs are so cheap! hahah

good post! you may as well get win 10 ESU, give yourself another year of safe use to work out what you want to do in the long run :) I came across this vid a while back with a free and easy method (minimal data sharing): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERDjeKN1_Es

tbh I am considering between windows 11 (or 10) ltsc and windows 10 with the ESU thing. I don't think I'll be using Linux for now because I had a lot of issues the last time I tried it sadly. The LTSC versions of windows are really clean and don't have much bloat if at all and the LTSC versions of windows 11 are actually tolerable without the bloatware and the AI (no way!)

Those are solid options! especially with LTSC giving you security updates for another several years (assuming it doesn't strip down too much? I've never used it). And yeah, Linux is rough outside of fortunate conditions and hardware. That's why I made all my computer pages on here, I'm near constantly troubleshooting some bullshit, lmao.
added panoscrobbler to the list, finally found a foss alternative for the last.fm app (yay!)
