to asnwer your question i have a lot of uncompressed images (images take up more space than text/html files) uploaded to my website and im only using 19% of the 1GB

Welcome to Neocities! Site's looking great so far. :D To answer one of your questions, hotlinking is when you link an image (or other file) from someone else's site/server instead of uploading it to your own site. It's considered rude because it uses their bandwidth.
