i will be honest ... i think art thats deep and meaningful to the artist can still be fun ... a lot of my horror art is based on mental health but i also just genuinely like horror and gore and think its cool and i think the ideas i have are just cool
not all of my art is health related but even the stuff that is, its like, idk most of the time im not actively thinking "how do i artistically portray this concept?" im just Experiencing Something. and the idea comes to me because im Experiencing Something. and i go "huh, yeah thats what i feel like rn, thats a cool art idea". i dont think that makes it any less meaningful!
i say this because i sometimes see people say "the most important thing about art is having fun!" and others say "no, the most important thing is that its meaningful!" and like idk. art can be both. trying to define art and say how artists are allowed to feel and think and learn is useless because art is self expression. thats the point. it can be everything and nothing all at once. its up to the artist to decide.
