It's subjective, but I think technology can make it easier to dehumanize a person you only know from the internet. That way, ending a friendship doesn't feel as bad as ending one irl. It also emboldens people to act like jackasses towards each other online, because it's easier to convince yourself the person you're talking to isn't a "real" person.
