I agree that 'indie web' spaces focus too much on 'revivalism' (even though a lot of people aren't actually basing from what the internet really was at that time but just a 'mythic' image of what it was like), when there's so much more to be found in thinking of hand-coded websites as orienting towards a better future for the web.
