Good metaphor. I have noticed I often use "should" and "need". When I write down brainstorming there is mess of them. It's too uncomfortable to exert performance and it can lead myself exhausted and depressed. Sometimes I will try to accept what I am first.

best solution to discord is to delete it, but that's a hard thing to do for a lot and may not even be the best solution
