To be honest, I never thought much about it. However, I tend to believe that mathematics does not necessarily describe only our world, but rather a multitude of possible worlds in which parts of those worlds can be reflected into our own through models. About natural numbers, I believe that we have very good models of them in reality, but I don't believe that they exist as pure objects.
